©2007 Boggy Creek AirboatHow old do you have to be to ride on the tours?
All ages are welcome on all tours. We do not have a minimum age or height requirement for our tours. A child under 2 can sit on your lap or ride beside you. They usually enjoy the ride, but some have a problem with the noise and/or wearing a life vest which is required for children under 6.
What is the best time to go?
The best chance of seeing alligators in the wild is on our one hour night airboat tour. This tour takes you out when the alligators are searching for food at night. They do not eat as much during the cold months so we do not have night tours from sometime in November to sometime in March. (Dates are completely weather based) Wildlife is most active in the morning, we advise that you arrive as close to 9:30am as possible in the warm months and between 11:00 am-2:00 pm in the cold months.
Is there a guarantee to see alligators?
We cannot guarantee to see alligators in the wild on the airboat tour’s. Our captains have many years of experience and are usually really good at finding them, but since they are in the wild each tour is unique and unpredictable. On the other hand we do offer a wildlife safari tour that not only takes you to see many animals in the wild; it also takes you to an alligator pit that has many alligators in it year round.
Do you provide life vests & hearing protection?
All our passengers are provided with hearing protection prior to riding on our airboat tours. Life vests can be found under the seat and in the front of the boat. Children 6 and under are required to wear a life vest.
Are the tours handicap accessible?
Both our locations have wheelchair access. Unfortunately, we are unable to have the wheelchair on the airboat so the passenger would need to be transferred from the wheelchair to the seat in the boat.
The Wildlife Safari can support a wheelchair, but it is a very bumpy tour. Please do not ride this tour if you have any back or neck problems. If any assistance is needed at all please let the front desk know upon purchase of your tickets and our staff would be more than happy to help in any way.
©2007 Boggy Creek AirboatWhat type of license does the captain have?
Captains License allows 6 passengers or less on the airboat. Guide license holder does not have to have U.S. Coast Guard inspected vessels. Master Captains License allows operator to drive uninspected as well as inspected U.S. Coast Guard vessels. This is required for any captains taking more than 6 paying passengers.
Are all the captains Master Captains?
Some airboat companies use the owners Master Captains license as an umbrella for all captains. Ask for the Master Captains License for YOUR driver to make sure that they are inspected and certified.
Are ALL boats U.S. Coast Guard Inspected and Certified?
Just because the boats are made by a U.S. Coast Guard manufacturer doesn't mean they are inspected and certified by the Coast Guard. (All U.S. Coast Guard approved boats have a certificate of inspection on board) Also make sure all boats are individually insured.
What is the capacity of the boat?
Make sure you know the capacity of the boat and never exceed the approved limit of passengers. Boats carrying over 6 passengers MUST have ALL of the following:
1. Airboats MUST have a Certicate of Inspection with all the mandatory safety equipment on board at all times.
2. Drivers MUST be on a drug consortium.- They will have both pre-hire and random drug testing.
3. Drivers MUST have a U.S. Coast Guard Master Captain's License not just have a Coast Guard Guide License.
Does the airboat captain feed the wild alligators?
Not only is this illegal, but feeding wild alligators makes them lose their natural fear of humans and very dangerous.
